August 1 /2019
We’re gearing down from a busy summer and gearing up for what we hope will be an equally busy fall. Check out our calendar for a list of our fall workshops, we always have a good selection of traditional and new projects for you. Some of our favourites fill up quickly, so be sure to register soon for any sessions that appeal to you. We always have a lot of fun at these events and we look forward to seeing the imaginative ideas our participants come up with.
We are closed for a couple of weeks in August, from the 14th to the 27th. When we re-open on the 28th, we’ll be ready for fall with ornamental peppers, grasses, asters, mums, Indian corn, pumpkins, straw bales and much more. In addition, we are currently growing a great selection of mixed fall planters for those who just want something beautiful for the front porch without the fuss and muss of DIY.
Of course, we all know what follows fall – Christmas! We’re already planning for the season, putting together a list of our very popular Christmas workshops and ordering supplies. Watch this space for workshop dates, and sign up early.
We’ll be taking a break sometime in October to clean up from summer and fall and get things ready for Christmas. We’ll post the closing dates as soon as they are finalized.
Before the October break, we’ll be looking to clear out as much of our nursery stock as possible, so if you’re looking for a deal come and see us! As long as you can dig in the ground, you can plant perennials, shrubs and trees, and fall is a good time to avoid the added stress of summer heat for new plantings.
Enjoy the rest of the summer!

Fall workshops scheduled! Yes, we’ve barely hit summer and we’re already thinking about fall, and Christmas is not far behind! Check our calendar for the first of our fall workshops, and register early, these workshops fill up quickly.
Meanwhile at the garden centre, we are enjoying a steady stream of customers now that the weather has finally warmed up and people are getting out in their gardens. Our annuals are gradually finding shelf space outside, as the greenhouse hits temperatures of 35°C on sunny days – not fit for man nor beast (nor plants!). We still have a great selection of summer containers and annual plants - if you’re lacking some colour in your garden, think about brightening things up a bit with some annuals.
We are constantly re-stocking our perennials, shrubs and trees, so you’re always sure to see something new (and irresistible!) every time you visit. And we are busy many evenings providing our unique garden consultation service; if you’re stuck trying to figure out what to do in your garden, give us a call – we’ll come and make some suggestions.
Don’t forget we always have a huge selection of containers for indoor and outdoor plants, houseplants, succulents, fairy garden plants and ornaments, gifts galore, cut flowers, soil amendments, mulches and decorative pea gravel and river rock.On special right now, all our veggie plants are reduced (the more you buy, the cheaper they are!), and seeds and summer bulbs are now 30% off.

The 2019 season is well underway! We’ve had our first 2 workshops and it’s been great to welcome our returning attendees and new enthusiasts as well. We’ve scheduled more workshops, check the calendar for details. Register early, spaces fill up quickly!
We’ve been busy custom planting annual containers, as well as creating an impressive selection of hanging baskets and patio planters. We have some gorgeous hanging pots this year, wicker cones, moss baskets, plastic in different colours and patterns – you’re sure to find the exact right combination for your home. If you can’t find it, let us know and we’ll make one up especially for you!
Don’t forget our extensive collection of perennials, vines, shrubs and trees - we are constantly adding to our nursery stock by hand selecting the most beautiful specimens from our suppliers. If you have a particular request, let us know, we’ll do our best to find it on one of our shopping adventures.
It’s finally warming up and it’s time to get out in the garden again!
Finally! The first day of spring, we were definitely doing our happy dance at 5:58pm on March 20!
The greenhouses are packed full and every day we see changes - our baby annuals are growing quickly (especially on sunny days), and many of them already have blooms on their short sturdy stems. We’ve been planting most of the annuals in 4” pots, six-packs (great for mass-planting in your flower beds), and of course we are producing a huge selection of pre-planted hanging pots, patio containers and table top arrangements. For early in the season there are pansies in all their cheerful colours…these will take you right through to the Victoria Day weekend, and beyond if you want.
Open for registration now, our first workshops of the season, starting April 13 with Kokedoma (a unique and interesting Japanese plant design). In addition, there are workshops for a beautiful Easter centrepiece, a mixed herb planter and Mother’s Day Teacup arrangements. Check the calendar tab for all the workshop and registration details. And let us know if you have any ideas for additional workshops.
We are always available by phone, so if you want to get an early start on summer, feel free to call us to book a consultation. And drop by any time during business hours with your own container and/or your special requests for custom planting your summer pots.
Don’t forget to check out the calendar for our workshop schedule, and the blog for up-to-the-minute news on the greenhouse happenings and favourite new plant discoveries!
We’re so looking forward to welcoming you back for the 2019 season. See you soon!
April 3 may seem a long way off, especially during this nasty winter, but we are getting ready for spring! We’ve started veggie and annual seeding, and will be welcoming our first shipment of annuals, perennials and shrubs at the end of this month. The greenhouse will be busy again, as we plant up all our baby annuals into 4” pots, start our mixed containers, and prepare the perennials and shrubs for the garden centre.
In addition we have confirmed the dates for our first workshops of 2019; we’ve come up with some new and different projects that we think you’ll really enjoy. Check out the Calendar page for full descriptions and dates.
The garden centre may still be closed, but we are always open by appointment. If you have a special request, or want to start planning early for the summer, you can call any time and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. In the meantime, enjoy winter and remember spring is just a few weeks away!
